Pior Canal do Mundo In Portuguese
“The Worst Channel in the World” — a self-deprecating joke
It's your last credit in a filthy arcade, reeking of cheap booze, cigarettes and blood.
I make stuff about retro games, anime and old horror flicks | Sometimes a scriptwriter, personal trainer and psychoanalyst (limited availability).
What's going on here?
You've just stepped into the miserable territory of stories without a colorful varnish of nostalgia: forgotten cinema, horror films, video games that don't bring "engagement", and old anime that now get stamped with that self-centered, anachronistic label known as "aged badly".
Completely removed from the sanitized emotional rescue made to pass as advertiser-friendly. Because the past is dirtier than the internet tells you.
More about the author
Who am I? What do I do?
My name is Marcio Baião, or Baionder — a childhood nickname that came from Marvel's Secret Wars*1 and never went away (people also call me the bard, even though I've always played rogues).
But seriously... I'm a scriptwriter, chronicler and art historian, as well as a psychoanalyst and certified personal trainer (though I only take on a limited number of clients).
As for my story: I was born and raised in the boiling culture of 1980s and 90s Recife*2, unfortunately in a dysfunctional family — but the violence and tragedies I lived through didn't overshadow my interest in art, literature, cinema, music and, above all, the niche worlds of comics, Japanese culture and the so very inaccessible world of video games in that poor, broke — if fascinating — Brazil.
As I grew up, my interest in so many forms of knowledge couldn't keep up with my very low purchasing power, so everything came to me very late — both knowledge and the things I could never have as a kid.
Meanwhile, I worked at things you wouldn't believe and did others you'd probably disapprove of. Well... I never told anyone I was a good person.
Having become a father young, I put the creative side on pause, kept the bohemian side under control and made a living in health and sports (weight training, track and field, football and boxing), where I ended up getting into the study of psychoanalysis, which I've never given up. Strange, right? A sports guy talking about nerdy niches. Being "the weird one" was what set me apart: people who love niche things have a hard time dealing with professionals they need but who see them as failures or freaks just for liking something they don't understand — whether in therapy or in a weight-training session.
Well... in the content-creation world, since 2020 I've been talking about my unusual experiences with arcades and old video games on YouTube (where I started out on "Pior Canal do Mundo"*3). Before that — wow, long before that... — I sold texts about old horror films, obscure anime, music, comics and even humor pieces, all thanks to the reach of my old blog, Cerveja Barata*4, which is now back as a channel. Which is to say I started creating in 2003.
Well... I don't think I need to explain much beyond the obvious: I'm completely in love with retro video games, horror, animation, RPGs, old movies, series, radio, TV and even forgotten commercials. For some reason, researching the history of so many forms of media and their impact on Brazilians and other peoples fascinates me deeply.
But let me warn you right away: I'm not into this "influencer" thing and all the vices that come with it. I'm just a simple guy... with a few clients who need me, a pile of texts to proofread, a computer, an old camera, a battered microphone and a glass of whiskey...
Now that you've made it this far, how can this old man help you?

Fanbased Store For the Brazilian audience · in Portuguese
It's not just a store. It's about creativity, honesty and freedom.
I only recommend products I bought myself and liked. Someone who paid for a product has a different experience from someone who got it from the brand to promote it. That is my conviction.
